Dear Friends:
Meet Annie in SC. Annie was dumped at a hunting estate and left to fend for herself. Annie was emaciated, had discharge coming from both eyes, and had a foul-smelling mouth. NBRAN’s vet confirmed she had been neglected. She could barely walk, and her teeth were so rotten, she could barely eat. She also suffered from hookworms, whip worms and a double ear infection. In addition to neglect, Annie was also diagnosed with a heart murmur and mitral valve disease. This will require medication twice daily for the rest of her life.
Though some may question doing so much for such an old dog, NBRAN feels that if there can be quality of life, a dog should be saved. Seniors are NOT disposable. Since coming into NBRAN’s care, Annie has had a dental cleaning and 2 surgeries for the extraction of 12 teeth. She has seen a cardiologist and they are now monitoring her heart. She also had a number of tests, an abdominal ultrasound, and a gastrointestinal panel to determine the cause and proper treatment of blood in her stool. To date, NBRAN’s cost to help Annie exceeds $7,000 but we are happy to report that she’s doing better and we hope to post her for adoption soon!
NBRAN’s operational costs to care for our beloved dogs can range from $25K to $30K PER month. And, like most of you, we are impacted by the rising costs of caring for our dogs. We have many wonderful veterinarians who do what they can to keep costs down, but their own operating costs are increasing, which means higher bills for us. Your help is crucial to NBRANs ability to plan for dog care needs and veterinary emergencies such as Annie's.
